PNG's Commerce and Industry Minister Richard Maru brands Opps Leader Don Polye as ‘chronic badmouthed’ leader

Commerce & Industry Minister Richard Maru
Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry and Yangoru Sausia MP Richard Maru has described Opposition Leader Don Polye’s comments against the LR group of companies as the act of a “desperate man’’ looking to win support for his intending candidate in Yang

He said it was a shame for Polye to ‘’badmouth’’ an investor that came into the country and completed agricultural projects which included the Koroba Agro industrial centre, 9-Mile farm and others.

Maru, in an exclusive interview with Loop PNG today, said the Opposition Leader had never delivered any agricultural projects in the country and for him to speak against such an agricultural investor was “absurd’’.

“If he has allegations against the investor, he should wait for the court proceedings to confirm whether they’re right or wrong in their dealings.

“It is irresponsible for him to brand an investor like that based on mere allegations, especially, an investor that has a good reputation in the country and is known globally,” he said.

How to Stop Digicel Advertising text messages

Danny J Kui

After hearing/reading numerous complains about unnecessary Advertising/Promotional Texts from Digicel, I am happy to tell you that there is a way to stop this....

Send "DND" to 16022: TO STOP DIGICEL ADVERTISING TEXTS

Digicel implemented an opt-out solution in early September 2014. This was done after consultation with the regulator, NICTA (National Information & Communications Technology Authority).

A customer can send a free sms with the letters 'DND' to the code 16022.
Within 48 hours the customer will be put on a blacklist which means they will not get any sms messages/adverts from Digicel other than service messages (eg. network outages, responses to credit top ups).

Oppostition Leader Don Polye puts records straigh on projects in Papua New Guinea

Don Pomb Polye, MP, Opposition Leader
By Vincent Moses
PNG NEWS, Facebook, 16.12.2015

PORT MORESBY: Opposition Leader Don Pomb Polye today (Tuesday) set the record straight on infrastructure developments in the country.

Mr Polye said the projects, which the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill had been officiating at to mark their openings respectively across the country, were solely the work of the Somare-Polye government.

“So much have been said about the development projects countrywide during their openings in the public forums, including the mainstream media, but the fact on who was (were) responsible for all these remains misleading,” he said.

He said on record the upgrading of impact projects like the Jacksons International, Hoskins, Kagamuga, Gurney and Tokua airports among others was funded by the past government through the Asian Development Bank.

Polye added the past government was also funding the other major transport infrastructure developments, particularly the regional wharves and highways.

“The only projects the current government funded are in NCD alone under the pretext of international events,” clarified Mr Polye.

Male circumcision for AIDS prevention should be prioritized in PNG

JOE WASIA | Supported by the Bob Cleland Writing Fellowship
Re-posted from Keith Jacksons & Friends: PNG Attitude (19/10/2012)

LIKE MANY DEVELOPING COUNTRIES, Papua New Guinea is greatly susceptible to HIV/AIDS.

Research and studies have done by many countries but there is no cure identified for the deadly disease. Thousands of people are dying every year.

Daily newspapers, radio, television and social media report the deaths of so many people without specifying the disease. But no reports of deaths from AIDS appear in any media in PNG. But AIDS is a major cause of many deaths.

Preventive measures like using of condoms, avoiding exposure to blood, being faithful to one partner, and male circumcision are tools used in many countries.

Two Sydney money managers have demanded about $23 million in fees for two years work investing Papua New Guinea taxpayer funds, some of which dropped in value by about $10 million.

And a company they directed also paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in a referral or introduction fee to a former PNG prime minister's son in connection with getting the deal to invest the funds.

The revelations have emerged from a row over $43 million of PNG government money that was squirrelled away in a small country bank branch in Lismore in northern NSW.

The money is now the subject of a court case in NSW  involving the money managers and Papua New Guinea's third-party motor vehicle insurer, which owns the money.

It has already sparked controversy in PNG with politicians raising concerns about how the $43 million fund, which belonged to the government-owned entity known as the Motor Vehicle Insurances Limited (MVIL), was  sent out of the country in 2009.

Proud of our sons: In praise of Engan MPs

Re-posting an article by Joe Wasia on PNG ATTITUDE
(08.06.2012)

I THANK THE HONOURABLE MEMBERS from Enga Province who have been contributing tirelessly to the development of their province and the country one way or the other.

They played major roles in mobilising and demobilising the national government during their term in the parliament. We are proud of our sons.

Keep up the shining leadership, honourable member for Kandep and senior minister in successive governments, Don Polye.

You made us proud when you fly high the Engan flag across the nation. I believe if we have a system like that of the USA where the president is voted for by the people, Don Polye would attract millions of people in favour.

Why do many people called “Action Governor” to the honourable governor of Enga, Peter Ipatas? You know what? He initiated so many projects in all districts in Enga before and after the amendment to Provincial and Local Level Government Act.
