Success is not about competition to compete with others - it is a journey of its own - it has its own pace and time frame.
Here is a short story of Dick Teta, a street vendor who recently graduated from the PNG's University of Technology.
Dick hails from a village called Silim in the Kompiam Ambum District in Enga province. He comes from a poor family background, and he is married with two beautiful kids.
Dick started to venture into informal business in the hope of raising funds to pay his school fee later on. He started selling soft drinks and betel nuts at Waigani Market, just adjacent to Morata Bus Stop.
Apart from his education, he married a beautiful woman who should assist him in achieving his desired goal. Some years later, they had two beautiful kids.
They supported each other, selling betel nuts and soft drinks on a day to day basis, saving any profit they could receive from their daily income.
In 2022, he had a conviction, and the desire to go back to school was mounting forth. His wife helped him pay the school fee and made him re-enrolled to continue his academic year. This wasn't the end of it, she continuously supported him in his absence by looking after their kids while he was away for studies and also raised funds for his educational needs.
Through thick and thin, she stood by his side and provided the undying support and courage that he deserved till he completed his studies last year.
To this date, 05th/03/24, it marked a very special event of their lifetime. It was the moment they had been waiting for.Their unending efforts, commitment, dedication, hardship, struggles, and their investments were not in vain but finally came into fruition and reality when he flew higher with the flying colours.

Mr.Teta's educational journey began in the early days of his life. Given the family background, life of a village boy to progress in education was bit challenging. The life's struggle was real. There was no one to look up to, interms of financing his education, but his parents seemed the only becon of hope, the light to shine on through the darkness.
With zero source of income attached to him, selling pandanus (karuka) at the market , garden foods, and selling pigs were the only means of generating income to cater for his educational needs. Under all those circumstances, no matter how difficult they seemed, Mr. Teta successfully managed to complete his primary and secondary schools. His struggle in primary and secondary schools was finally paid of when he was selected to study economics as his preferred course at the University of Technology in Lae thereafter.
Whilst in university, Teta's only concern was school fees. He could hardly complete his studies due to these on-going financial difficulties and other challenges. Thus, he had officially withdrawn and paused his studies for a while, hoping to complete it later whenever possible.
